PACK 512 PINEWOOD DERBY

 

PACK 512s Pinewood Derby is scheduled for February 21, 2009 at the Windborne United Church.

Please arrive for pre weigh in and final inspection around 12:00 PM, Racing will begin around 1:30 PM.

In the following table things the pack needs to purchase or bring are highlighted in green

and the volunteer positions that need to be filled are highlighted in yellow.

Task I, Track pickup, Go to RayŐs and pickup the track early Saturday February 21, 2009 morning around 8:00 AM. .

Task II, Setup Crew, Meet at the Church at 9:00 AM on February 21, 2009 and setup the track, timer, tables and chairs, awards, weigh in/check in and pit tables.

Task III, Official Time Keeper, this person should be efficient in computer hardware and software and have his/her own laptop.  This person will arrive at the Church at 10:00 AM on race day to setup the timer.

IV / Position 1

Task IV, Official Weigh In / Check In Table, These volunteers will be in charge of checking each boys car to verify that it meets the District rules and regulations.  These volunteers should arrive at 10:00AM on race day.  Upon meeting the requirements a # sticker will be applied to the underside of the scouts car and the scout will receive their drivers license.  These volunteers will also be in charge of the pit area.  This is where last minute car modifications will be made. (i.e. Add / Subtract Weight)

Task V, Official Starter, This person will sit at the starting line and start each race by releasing the cars down the track.  This person will watch the scouts and keep them from knocking down the track.  Each scout will be responsible for placing their car on the track.

Task VI, Master of Ceremonies, This person will announce each race.  This person will also present the scouts and siblings with their Awards.

Task VII, Official Checkered Flag Person, This person will sit at the finish line and watch the scouts to keep them from knocking down the track, timer and etc.

Task VII, Official Judges, These Judges will judge the Craftsmanship and Originality competitions.  These Judges will also award 1 Scout Good Sportsmanship Award.  Judges cannot be parents of racers.

Task IX, Tear Down Crew, These volunteers will gently tear down and pack the track, timer, and etc.  Put away tables and chairs. Clean and vacuum the Church.  Transport track to the Track CaretakerŐs house.

Task XII, District Derby Volunteer, assist with setup and teardown of the District Derby to be held at Crabtree Mall on March 29, 2009.  This should be the father of one of the nine scouts that goes on to the District Pinewood Derby.
